Local Trade Copier 3.1.8: How Minimum-Lot Protection Keeps Small Accounts Safe

Local Trade Copier 3.1.8 by Algonexis Technologies (mt4copier.com) was released on October 22, 2026. The change I want to explain here is a new safety setting, MaxMinLotUpsize. It stops a small account from copying a trade at several times the risk you intended, just because the broker’s minimum lot is bigger than the lot the copier calculated.

The full list of changes is in the Local Trade Copier 3.1.8 release notes. This post covers the reason behind the minimum-lot change, with numbers.

The minimum-lot problem in every trade copier

Most traders copy trades with a lot size that follows the size of the account. A trade on a large master account becomes a small trade on a small client account. That works well until the calculated lot is smaller than the broker allows.

Here is a typical case:

  • The master account has a $50,000 balance and opens 0.50 lots.
  • The client account has $500, so the copier calculates 0.005 lots.
  • The broker’s minimum lot is 0.01, so the copy has to be 0.01 lots: 2 times the intended size.

Now the master opens a smaller trade of 0.10 lots. The client should get 0.001 lots, but the smallest possible trade is still 0.01. That copy carries 10 times the risk of the master trade. A few of those in a row can do real damage to a small account, and to a prop firm challenge with a daily loss limit.

Until 3.1.8, Local Trade Copier always copied such trades with the minimum lot. Most trade copiers do the same, often without telling you.

What MaxMinLotUpsize does

MaxMinLotUpsize is the largest upsize LTC Client accepts when it has to round a trade up to the broker’s minimum lot. The default is 2.0.

Calculated lotBroker minimumUpsizeResult with the default 2.0
0.0080.011.25×Copied with 0.01 lots
0.0050.012×Copied with 0.01 lots
0.0010.0110×Not copied, with an ATTENTION message

When a trade is skipped, LTC Client writes an ATTENTION message in the Experts tab, and an alert pops up once per symbol. You always know why a trade wasn’t copied.

If you prefer the old behaviour, where every trade is copied at least with the minimum lot, set MaxMinLotUpsize to 0.

Which value should you use?

  • Prop firm challenges and small accounts: keep the default 2.0, or lower it to 1.5 if your daily loss limit is tight.
  • Accounts where every trade must be copied (for example when you follow a strategy that only works as a whole): set 0, and size the client account so the minimum lot isn’t a big upsize.
  • Large client accounts: the setting rarely matters, because the calculated lot is almost always above the minimum.

What else is in 3.1.8

  • MT5 netting accounts: copies now follow the master’s closes, partial closes and Stop Loss / Take Profit.
  • FIFO accounts at US brokers: “Close By” on the master is now closed on the client too, and moved pending orders are followed.
  • Faster copying on long-running setups with many master accounts, and faster symbol mapping on brokers with thousands of symbols.
  • Broker protection: each copied trade is modified at most once every 5 seconds and 60 times per hour.

3.1.8 is the first public release since 3.1.0, so it includes all the improvements in between. LTC Server and LTC Client 3.1.x work together, so you can update the Clients first. If you update LTC Server, note that its Stop Loss / Take Profit override settings are now in points instead of pips.
